Our Values

Relationships

Relationships are a central part of human life and wellbeing.  Relate Therapy values the inclusion of family and significant relationships in therapy where possible and the strengthening of relational bonds.  Relate Therapy values healthy relationships as a very important part of human functioning.

Diversity

Relate Therapy celebrates the diversity of humans and honours diversity of body size, gender, sexuality, place of origin, body ability and neurology. Relate Therapy recognises power imbalances in western society and how that can also show up in the therapy room. Relate Therapy seeks to acknowledge and explore this where necessary and strives to deliver anti-oppressive practice. Relate Therapy understands this will never be perfect due to the nature of privilege and welcomes and encourages any feedback around where this could be improved.

Community connection

Relate Therapy values community and connection as an important element of human wellbeing and good mental health. Relate Therapy holds regular groups and workshops to encourage and support the development of community and relational capacity. Relate Therapy understands different people have different needs around connection and encourages people to participate to their level of comfort.

Professionalism

Relate Therapy is committed to delivering professional, high-quality mental health care.  This means we engage in regular supervision and ongoing professional development to ensure you are receiving an up-to-date, informed and reflective service.  Claire is registered with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and is a member of the Australia and New Zealand Eating Disorders Academy (ANZAED).

Claire is credential-led to provide eating disorder treatment with ANZAED.
